Child injured by gunfire from Myanmar in Teknaf

A child was shot in the head by a stray bullet fired from across the Myanmar border while playing in the yard of his house in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition by family members. In protest, locals blocked the highway.

The incident occurred on Sunday (January 11) morning. Over the past four days, heavy gunfire and explosions have been reported across the Rakhine border near Hwaikyang, Teknaf. During the unrest, a bullet struck the child, identified as Apna Akter, in the head.

The injured child is the son of Jasim Uddin, a resident of Ward No. 3, Hwaikyang, Teknaf. He is a third-grade student at Haji Mohammad Hossain Government Primary School in Lomba Bil, Hwaikyang.
