Three people were killed in a massive fire that broke out on the second floor of a seven-storey building in Uttara, Dhaka, on Friday morning.
Talha Bin Jasim, acting officer of the Fire Service Media Cell, confirmed the incident to Jago News. According to him, the fire started at 7:50 am at house number 18, road number 11, sector 11, Uttara. The North Fire Station dispatched two units at 7:54 am, which arrived on the scene at 7:58 am and immediately began efforts to control the blaze.
After nearly half an hour of work, the fire was brought under control at 8:25 am and was fully extinguished by around 10:00 am.
The officer added that three people inside the flat died, though their identities have not yet been confirmed. Thirteen others were rescued by the fire service and sent to Kuwait Friendship Hospital.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage have not yet been determined. Fire service and law enforcement agencies are investigating the incident.
