The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested Evaly’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohammad Rassel and the company’s Chairman, his wife Shamima Nasrin.
The information was confirmed on Tuesday (January 20) by Dhanmondi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Saiful Islam and Deputy Commissioner of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division, Muhammad Talebur Rahman.
OC Md Saiful Islam said that Rassel and Shamima were arrested by the Detective Branch. He added that arrest warrants against Rassel exist not only at their police station but also in several other police stations.
Talebur Rahman said that the DMP’s Detective Branch arrested Rassel and Chairman Shamima from Dhanmondi. So far, information indicates there are 391 warrants against the two.
Earlier, on September 16, 2021, police arrested Rassel and Shamima from their Mohammadpur residence in Dhaka on charges of fraud and embezzlement. Shamima was released on bail in April 2022, while Rassel secured bail in December of the same year.
