Ex-AL state minister Abu Sayeed switches to BNP

Professor Dr Abu Sayeed, a former Awami League state minister for information and a member of the Constitution Drafting Committee formed by the 1972 Bangladesh Constituent Assembly, has joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

He formally joined the party on Wednesday, January 21, by presenting a bouquet to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the BNP chairperson’s political office in Gulshan, Dhaka.

BNP leaders said Abu Sayeed has taken primary membership of the party and has been encouraged to participate in its organisational activities actively.

A former member of parliament from Pabna, Abu Sayeed, served as state minister for information during Sheikh Hasina’s first cabinet. In recent years, he had been involved in the politics of the Gono Forum.
