Faridpur bus-truck collision leaves 2 dead, 15 injured

Two people were killed and at least 15 others injured as a bus and a truck collided head-on in Faridpur's Bhanga on Saturday, January 24.

The deceased were identified as Nabin Sheikh, 22, the driver of the truck, son of Sheikh Majid, a resident of Dhalar Mor area in Sadar upazila, and Nabin's assistant, Rashed, 30.

According to the police and locals, a Lija Paribahan bus collided head-on with a truck in front of Bhanga Upazila Livestock Office on the Dhaka-Barishal highway around 11:30 am, leaving the truck driver's assistant dead on the spot and 16 others injured.

Among the injured, the truck driver succumbed to his injuries in a hospital, said Bhanga highway police station's officer-in-charge, Helal Uddin.
