A mother committed suicide by jumping in front of a train along with her two children in Gazipur. The incident occurred around 11:00 am on Monday (January 26) at a railway crossing in the Nayanepara area of Ward No. 41 under Gazipur City Corporation. The bodies of the mother and her two children were severely mutilated after being hit by the moving train.
The deceased woman was identified as Hafeza Khatun Mala (25), daughter of Mozammel Haque of the South Natun Sombazar area under Kaliganj upazila. The two children accompanying her were reported to be Mala’s children, though their identities could not be confirmed immediately.
Upon receiving the information, police rushed to the scene and recovered the three bodies.
Confirming the incident, Pubail Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Atikul Islam said police had learnt that a mother committed suicide by jumping under a train along with her two children. He added that police had been sent to the spot and further details would be known after the investigation.
