Bangladeshi expatriates are turning out in large numbers for the upcoming elections, with over 4 lakh voters casting their ballots through the postal system as of 1:30 pm on Monday, according to the Election Commission.
A total of 4,05,164 votes have been submitted so far, reflecting strong engagement from the diaspora. Of these, 3,44,993 ballots were deposited at post offices or designated ballot boxes in countries around the world, while 19,388 ballots were cast within Bangladesh.
The Election Commission had sent postal ballots to 6,83,122 registered expatriate voters. So far, a total of 4,78,326 postal ballots have been returned from abroad, indicating that many expatriates are participating despite logistical challenges.
The robust turnout underscores the growing involvement of Bangladeshis living overseas in the country’s democratic process, highlighting the importance of every vote in shaping the nation’s future.
