A Dhaka court ordered the seizure of two flats in South Khulna belonging to former Customs, Excise, and VAT Assistant Commissioner Bhuiya Mofizur Rahman and his wife, Dilshad Jahan Lucy.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court Judge Md Sabbir Foyez issued the order following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday, January 28.
The ACC’s petition alleges that the couple acquired and held assets worth Tk 92.10 lakh beyond their known sources of income.
During the investigation, it was learned the accused were attempting to transfer, dispose of, or hide the flats and other properties. Such actions could obstruct the recovery of illicit assets if the couple is convicted, it added.
To ensure a fair investigation and safeguard government claims, the court approved the ACC’s request and ordered the seizure of the two flats.
