Following record-setting rates in the global market, gold prices in Bangladesh have now been reduced. The price of the highest-quality 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grammes) has been lowered by Tk 14,638, bringing the new rate to Tk 271,363 per bhori.
According to the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS), the reduction reflects a decline in the local market for pure gold. The new rates will take effect from 10:45 am on Friday, 30 January.
The decision was made during a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Friday (30 January). The committee’s chairman, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen, later confirmed the update in an official notification.
