The National Citizen Party has announced a 36-point manifesto for the upcoming 13th parliamentary elections, titled 'Manifesto of Youth and Dignity'.
The party unveiled the manifesto at a programme at Lakeshore Grand Hotel in Dhaka's Gulshan on Friday afternoon, January 30.
In the manifesto, the NCP promised the formation of an independent commission to establish a timeline and accountability framework for the implementation of the clauses of the July National Charter that depend on the acts and orders.
The party pledged to ensure exemplary punishment for those involved in all crimes against humanity, including the mass killings during the July Uprising, Shapla massacre, BDR carnage, enforced disappearance, and extrajudicial killings, which occurred during the fallen Awami League-led government, and the formation of a truth and reconciliation commission.
The party said a special cell of the National Human Rights Commission with the authority to investigate independently, aimed at preventing religious hatred, minority repression, and any kind of discriminatory behaviour due to race and identity.
It also vowed to publish and update categorically annual income and wealth statements of all public representatives, including ministers, MPs, and senior government officials, and details of government spending and allotments on the 'Hishab Dao' portal.
The party highlighted plans to modernise the economy through tax reforms, inflation control, support for entrepreneurs and a transition towards a cashless and sustainable economic system.
The manifesto further outlines initiatives to expand social protection, ensure fair wages, improve housing and urban transport, and promote youth participation in governance.
Education and health sector reforms feature prominently, alongside commitments to migrant welfare, agricultural sustainability, food security and climate-resilient development.
Measures to empower women, protect minorities, support persons with disabilities and uphold indigenous rights have also been given notable attention.
On foreign affairs and national security, the NCP reaffirmed its stance on safeguarding sovereignty, resolving regional humanitarian challenges through diplomacy and strengthening defence capabilities in line with modern needs.
NCP Convener Nahid Islam, party spokesperson and Central Election Management Committee Chairman Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, along with other senior leaders, were present at the manifesto unveiling event.
