Gold price drops by Tk 15,746 per bhori

The price of gold in the country has fallen by Tk 15,746 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing the rate of high-quality 22-carat gold to Tk 255,617 per bhori.

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) confirmed that the new price will be effective from 10:00 am on Saturday, January 31.

According to BAJUS, the decision follows a decrease in local market prices for refined gold. The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring held a meeting on Saturday to finalise the revision.

BAJUS Chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen signed an official statement announcing the update.

Earlier, on January 29, the price of 22-carat gold had risen by Tk 16,213 per bhori, reaching a record high of Tk 286,001 per bhori. Since then, the price has been reduced twice, resulting in a total drop of Tk 30,384 from the record rate.

The price of gold per bhori has dropped, with 22-carat gold now at Tk 255,617 (down Tk 15,746), 21-carat at Tk 244,011 (down Tk 14,988), 18-carat at Tk 209,136 (down Tk 12,888), and traditional gold at Tk 171,869 (down Tk 10,964).

Silver prices have also been reduced, with 22-carat silver at Tk 7,290 (down Tk 467), 21-carat at Tk 6,940 (down Tk 467), 18-carat at Tk 5,949 (down Tk 408), and traditional silver at Tk 4,432 (down Tk 350).
