Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said that false and misleading information regarding the party’s position on women is circulating on social media.
In a post on his verified Facebook page on Sunday, February 1, Dr Shafiqur said, “There has been false and misleading content circulating on social media, aimed at misrepresenting our position. I am sharing this to clarify our values and refocus the conversation on our policies.”
He added that the party’s manifesto has been clear from the start, emphasizing that women should play active and respected roles in education, healthcare, administration, entrepreneurship, and public service. Commitments include uninterrupted education for girls, safe campuses, zero tolerance for harassment, women-centred healthcare in every district, equal pay, safe workplaces, childcare support, and skills training for dignified employment.
Shafiqur also highlighted support for women’s leadership in politics and local government, economic empowerment of rural women, strong legal protection, and social respect.
“These are not new positions,” he said, noting that he publicly outlined these principles months ago and reaffirmed them at the Policy Summit on January 20, 2026. “They are not reactions to rumours or online noise; they reflect a long-standing and consistent vision.”
He urged the public to judge him by his record, policies, and manifesto—not by false narratives. The manifesto will be formally launched on February 3, with all commitments detailed in full.
Dr Shafiqur emphasized that the party’s approach is practical and measurable, focusing on safe education for girls, equal workplace opportunities, women-centred healthcare, strong legal protection, economic dignity, and meaningful leadership for women.
“A Bangladesh that respects women is a Bangladesh that moves forward. That is the future we are building,” he added.
