January sees 3rd highest remittance of $3.17b

The expatriate Bangladeshis sent around $3.17 billion, or approximately $317 crore, in remittances in January of the current fiscal year 2025-26, the third-highest inward remittance so far.

The amount is $98.50 crore higher than the same period in the last FY 2024-25, when the country received $218.50 crore in remittances, according to updated data from Bangladesh Bank.

Accordingly, roughly $10.23 crore remittances came home on average every day in January.

The expatriates sent $1,943.60 crore from July to January in the current FY.

Earlier, the country's highest remittances of $3.29 billion or $329 crore came in March of 2024-25 FY, and the second highest of $3.22 billion or $322.67 crore in December in the current FY.
