Naria raid nets 95 crude bombs, 3 arrested

Joint forces seized 95 crude hand bombs during a raid on multiple houses in Naria of Shariatpur early Monday and arrested three people in connection with the incident.

The raid was conducted in the Poragachha Beparikandi area of Moktarerchar Union around 1:55am on Monday, February 2, following intelligence inputs.

The arrestees were identified as Bachchu Pyada, 55, Mehedi Hasan, 30, and Roni Pyada, 25, all residents of the area.

According to police and local sources, members of the joint forces carried out house-to-house searches in the area and recovered 95 crude bombs stored in 12 buckets from the houses of Bachchu Pyada, Khalil Pyada and Zilu Madbar. Some sharp weapons were also seized during the operation.

Md Bahar Mia, officer-in-charge of Naria Police Station, said the operation was part of a regular drive based on secret information. “Ninety-five crude bombs were recovered from several houses in the Beparikandi area, and three people were arrested. A case will be filed, and the accused will be sent to court,” he said.

Law enforcement agencies said further investigation is underway to identify others involved and determine the source of the explosives.
