NCP applies to EC for Nahid’s address on BTV ahead of polls

Ahead of the upcoming 13th national parliamentary elections, the National Citizen Party (NCP) has applied to the Election Commission (EC) seeking permission for its convener, Nahid Islam, to deliver an address to the nation on Bangladesh Television (BTV).

The application, signed by NCP spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuyain, was submitted to the EC on Wednesday (February 4) on behalf of the party. A copy of the application has been obtained by Jago News.

In the application addressed to the Chief Election Commissioner, the party stated that Nahid Islam is keen to deliver an important address to the nation through Bangladesh Television in connection with the elections. Through the address, he intends to present a new political vision, outline a roadmap for new politics, and unveil the National Citizen Party’s election manifesto to the public.

The application noted that, in the current political context, it is crucial to present a clear, responsible and future-oriented political vision to the people. To that end, Nahid Islam seeks to directly communicate the party’s political ideology, goals and action plan to the public through the address.

It further said that, as a state-owned broadcaster, Bangladesh Television is the most effective and widely accepted medium for reaching people from all walks of life across the country simultaneously. Therefore, the party believes that delivering the address through BTV would ensure broad and effective nationwide dissemination.

In this context, the NCP said that allocating a specific time slot on BTV for the address to the nation is essential and urged the authorities to consider the matter and take the necessary steps.
