Nine individuals, one band named for Ekushey Padak 2026

The government has nominated nine distinguished individuals and one musical band for the Ekushey Padak 2026, recognising their outstanding contributions to the country’s culture, arts, journalism, science and other fields.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam announced the nominations at a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Thursday, following a meeting of the Advisory Council.

The nominees for this year’s prestigious state honour are actor Farida Akhter Babita, artist Professor Abdus Sattar, architect Marina Tabassum, rock musician Ayub Bachchu, folk dramatist Islam Uddin Palakar, journalist Shafik Rehman, scientist Mahbubul Alam Majumder, sculptor Tejash Halder Jash and dancer Arthi Ahmed. Popular rock band Warfaze has also been nominated for the award.

The Ekushey Padak, one of the country’s highest civilian honours, is awarded annually in recognition of notable achievements and contributions to national life.
