Jamaat amir's X handle hack: Bangabhaban programmer gets bail

A Dhaka court has granted bail to Mohammad Sarwar Alam, an assistant programmer at Bangabhaban, in a case over the hacking of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami amir's X (formerly Twitter) account.

The court of Dhaka's Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Muhammad Zunaid passed the order after a hearing on Thursday afternoon, February 5.

On Wednesday, February 4, the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained Sarwar from a government quarter east of the Rajarbag Police Lines auditorium, in connection with the hacking. 

Later, he was shown arrested in the aforesaid case filed with Hatirjheel police station under the Cyber Protection Ordinance.

Earlier, around 12:40 am on February 1, an objectionable post about women was shared from the official X handle of Jamaat Amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman.

Later, the party claimed that his account was hacked.
