Ramesh Chandra Sen, former Water Resources Minister and ex-lawmaker for Thakurgaon-1 constituency, passed away on Saturday morning, February 7, after falling critically ill while in custody at Dinajpur District Jail.
He was 83.
Ramesh was taken from the district jail to the emergency department of Dinajpur Medical College Hospital at 9:10 am and was pronounced dead at 9:29 am, hospital sources said.
According to jail authorities, he was arrested by Thakurgaon police on August 16, 2024, and sent to Dinajpur District Jail through a court order on August 17 of the year. He was facing three cases, including a murder charge.
Confirming the matter, Jail Superintendent Md Farhad Sarkar said that the body would be handed over to the family after completing all legal formalities.
