BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to wrap up his electioneering campaign in the capital with a series of 14 public rallies scheduled across Dhaka on Sunday and Monday.
The programme was announced by Mahdi Amin, spokesperson of the BNP’s Central Election Steering Committee, at a press conference held at the party’s Election Steering Committee office in Gulshan on Saturday afternoon, February 7.
Mahdi Amin alleged that a rival political party is preparing for “election engineering” in a planned manner to influence the polls. He cited incidents in Lakshmipur involving the preparation of vote seals bearing the names of party leaders as evidence. He also claimed that reports from various areas suggest a large number of burqas and niqabs are being prepared to misuse religious sentiments and cast fake votes.
