BAJUS revises gold prices; mixed changes across carats

Gold prices in the domestic market have been reduced, with the price of the highest-quality 22-carat gold cut by Tk 3,266 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing it down to Tk 258,824 per bhori.

The price reduction follows a decline in the local market price of pure gold (tejabi gold). The new prices will come into effect from Sunday (February 8), according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).

The decision was taken at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring held on Saturday (February 7). The information was later announced in a press release signed by the committee’s chairman, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.

Earlier, the price of the highest-quality gold had been increased by Tk 7,640 per bhori, effective from 10:00am on the same day. Following that hike, the price has now been revised downward.

Under the new pricing structure, the price of 21-carat gold has been increased by Tk 3,149 to Tk 247,044 per bhori.

Meanwhile, the price of 18-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 2,683 to Tk 211,760 per bhori, while traditional method gold has been lowered by Tk 2,158 to Tk 173,327 per bhori.
