All educational institutions to remain shut for five days

All educational institutions across the country will remain closed for five consecutive days from February 11 to 15 due to the national parliamentary elections, a referendum, and the Maha Shivaratri holiday.

According to a government decision, holidays have been declared on February 11 and 12 for the elections. February 13 and 14 fall on Friday and Saturday, the weekly holidays. Schools and colleges will also remain closed on February 15 on account of Maha Shivaratri.

The elections and the referendum are scheduled for February 12. In this context, the government issued an executive order declaring public holidays on February 11, the day before the polls, and February 12, the election day. Additionally, a special holiday has been declared for workers and employees in industrial areas on Tuesday, February 10.

A gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on January 25 states that, according to the Advisory Council meeting decision, government holidays will be observed across the country on Wednesday, February 11, and Thursday, February 12. This applies to officials and employees of government, semi-government, autonomous, and private offices, as well as teachers and staff of government and private educational institutions, to facilitate their participation in the elections.
