Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman on Monday announced that low-interest bank loans would be arranged for people wishing to go abroad.
Calling on voters to cast their ballots for the Sheaf of Paddy symbol to rebuild the country, Tarique Rahman said that the politics of the Sheaf of Paddy would move forward on the path of rebuilding Bangladesh by taking everyone along.
He made the remarks on Monday (February 9) while addressing an election rally at the Banani Kamal Ataturk ground in the capital, Dhaka. At the rally, he urged voters to ensure the victory of the BNP candidate in the Dhaka-17 constituency.
Tarique Rahman said that Banani is the place where he and his brother were born and grew up. Members of their family and their children were also born in the area. As a result, they share a deep familial, emotional, and spiritual bond with the people of Banani.
He further said that late former BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia spent a long period of her life in the area as well. For this reason, he said, their relationship with the people of Banani is not only political but also rooted in emotion and trust.
Noting that women make up half of the country’s total population, Tarique Rahman said sustainable development is not possible without women’s economic empowerment. If the BNP forms the government, a “Family Card” will be introduced in phases for housewives and mothers to ensure minimum financial assistance.
Describing agriculture as the backbone of the country’s economy, he said an “Agriculture Card” would be introduced for farmers if the BNP comes to power. Through this initiative, marginal, small, and medium farmers would receive direct government support, leading to increased agricultural production.
He also said that 100,000 health workers would be recruited nationwide to ensure primary healthcare services. These workers would provide door-to-door healthcare services, particularly for women and children.
In addition, he said arrangements would be made to ensure a dignified livelihood for religious leaders.
Tarique Rahman said the BNP aims to build a safe, just, and prosperous Bangladesh where merit and competence would be the basis for evaluation, regardless of religion or ethnicity. Emphasising that the people are the true source of state power, he called on everyone to unite to rebuild the country.
