Gold prices rise by Tk 2,216 per bhori

Gold prices in the domestic market have risen by Tk 2,216 per bhori, with the price of 22-carat gold increasing to Tk 261,040 per bhori (11.664 grams).

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced that the revised prices took effect from 10:00 am on Monday, February 9.

The decision was taken at a meeting of BAJUS’s Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring following an increase in the price of refined gold in the local market. The announcement was later issued in a notice signed by committee chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin.

According to the new pricing structure, the price of 21-carat gold has been increased by Tk 2,099 to Tk 249,143 per bhori. The price of 18-carat gold has risen by Tk 1,808 to Tk 213,568 per bhori, while gold produced under the traditional method has gone up by Tk 1,458 to Tk 174,785 per bhori.

The latest hike comes just one day after a price reduction. On 8 February, the price of 22-carat gold was cut by Tk 3,266 to Tk 258,824 per bhori, along with reductions in the prices of 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional-method gold. Gold was sold at those rates until 9:59 am on Monday.

Despite the increase in gold prices, silver prices have remained unchanged. The price of 22-carat silver has been fixed at Tk 6,357 per bhori, while 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional-method silver are priced at Tk 6,065, Tk 5,190 and Tk 3,907 per bhori, respectively.
