BNP National Executive Committee member Engineer Manjurul Ahsan Munshi has been permanently expelled from all party posts, including primary membership.
The decision was announced in a notification signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday, February 10.
According to the notice, Munshi was removed for statements and activities deemed contrary to the party’s policies, ideology and organisational discipline.
BNP earlier nominated Munshi from the Cumilla-4 (Debidwar) constituency, but his nomination was cancelled after he allegedly concealed information about loan default in his affidavit, rendering him ineligible to contest the election.
With no BNP candidate carrying the paddy sheaf symbol in the constituency, the party extended support to Gano Odhikar Parishad candidate Md Jasim Uddin. Munshi had been campaigning in his favour.
On Monday, February 9, evening, Munshi addressed an election rally in Baksar village under Gunaighar (North) union of Debidwar upazila, where his remarks sparked controversy. A video of the speech later went viral on social media, drawing widespread criticism.
In the footage, Munshi was heard making threatening remarks toward voters, which triggered backlash and intensified political debate ahead of the polls. Following the incident, BNP announced his permanent expulsion from the party.
