Two individuals, including an assistant presiding officer and a woman, were killed and six others injured as a truck rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Sadar upazila of Sherpur on Wednesday, February 11.
The assistant presiding officer, Rokanuzzaman Rokan, 31, was a junior instructor in the Environment Technology Department at the Sherpur Polytechnic Institute. Rokan, who hailed from Jamalpur's Sarishabari upazila, was assigned to the Sherpur Govt. Girls' High School centre.
The other victim was identified as Mahfuja Begum, 20, from Jamalpur's Madarganj.
The incident occurred in Shimultali area on the Sherpur-Jamalpur road around 11:30 am, said Sadar police station's officer-in-charge, Sohel Rana.
Rokan met his tragic end when he was heading towards Sherpur from home to join election duties, said his younger brother Robin.
