JaPa fails to secure a single seat in JS polls

The Jatiya Party (JaPa) candidates have conceded defeat in all 196 constituencies, including its stronghold, Rangpur, in the 13th parliamentary elections.

The party had never tasted devastating defeat since its formation four decades ago.

Unofficial results showed JaPa Chairman GM Quader became third in the Rangpur-3 seat with 43,385 votes compared to the Jamaat-e-Islami candidate's 175,827 and the BNP candidate's 84,578.

In Gaibandha-1, the party Secretary General Shamim Haider Patwary also managed third position with 33,976 votes, which is 106,750 lower than the Jamaat candidate who won the polls.

The Jatiya Party had announced candidates in 196 out of 300 constituencies for the 13th parliamentary election held on Thursday, February 12.
