12 injured in Faridpur post-polls violence

At least 12 people were injured in a post-polls violence between the supporters of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and 11-party alliance over voting inside a mosque at Ramkantapur village on Friday, February 13.

The incident occurred at around 2:30 pm during Jumma prayers when supporters of BNP leader Kuddus Talukder and 11-party alliance leader Robiul Talukder engaged in a heated argument over voting inside the mosque.

After prayers, tensions intensified outside the mosque, where supporters of Robiul Talukder allegedly attacked BNP supporters and vandalised at least six houses. That left 12 BNP supporters injured on the spot.

Law enforcement agencies, including police and army personnel, rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control.

Confirming the matter, Saltha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Bablur Rahman Khan said that legal action is being processed against those involved.

Attempts to reach the two local leaders for comment were unsuccessful.
