Rajshahi Stars FC have been crowned champions of the Women’s Football League, marking an impressive debut in the competition.
The newly formed team joins the list of past winners, including Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Abahani Limited, Bashundhara Kings, and Nasrin Sports Academy.
The Stars’ squad, featuring key players such as Rituparna, Afida, Shiuli Azim, and Alpi Akter, delivered a commanding performance throughout the season, culminating in a decisive victory in the final match.
Rajshahi faced Bangladesh Army FC at Kamalapur Stadium on Friday.
While a draw would have sufficed for Rajshahi to secure the championship, the Army needed a win to push the title race into a playoff. Rajshahi, however, dominated the game, winning 3-0 and finishing the season with a perfect 30 points from 10 matches.
The match saw both sides adopt attacking strategies in the first half, with the Army maintaining slightly more possession. Rajshahi broke the deadlock early in the second half when Sauravi Akand Priti advanced down the right flank and delivered a precise pass, allowing Alpi Akter to score.
In the 59th minute, Shaheda Akter Ripa doubled the lead with a direct strike from Rituparna’s cross. Rituparna herself added the third goal in the 88th minute, sealing the team’s dominant win.
Rajshahi Stars concluded the season at the top of the table with 30 points, while Bangladesh Army finished second with 24 points.
Alpi Akter emerged as the league’s top scorer, winning the Golden Boot after netting 30 goals.
