Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, has congratulated BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on the party's securing a two-thirds majority in the national elections.
"My sincere congratulations and best wishes to you (Tarique Rahman) as the Bangladesh Nationalist Party under your leadership achieved a huge majority in the 13th parliamentary election," he wrote in a message on Saturday morning, February 14.
Dr Yunus said this verdict of the people will remain a milestone in the constitutional and democratic continuity and institutional stability in the historical process of democratic transition.
"In governing the country, I firmly believe, you will move it to the path of steady, inclusive and development with your wisdom, democratic values, and pro-people spirit," the Chief Adviser added.
Remembering BNP founder Ziaur Rahman's ideals and political philosophy and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia's uncompromising leadership and commitment to democracy, Dr Yunus said, "I sincerely wish their ideals and great work will enlighten your future path."
