Taiyeb says he received formal farewell from ministry

Faiz Ahmed Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, has said he was formally given a farewell by the ministry, amid speculation that he may be leaving the country.

Speaking to Jago News on Saturday, February 14, Taiyeb said he attended the office on February 9 and 10 and completed his duties before the farewell. “I attended the office on the 9th and 10th. I have been given a formal farewell from the ministry,” he said.

He did not confirm whether he had left the country, but said he had tried to give his best during his short tenure.

“I introduced new management, new technology and transparency to what I consider one of the most corrupt ministries,” he claimed. “I worked relentlessly to change outdated laws and policies – tasks that usually take five years.”

Rejecting allegations of corruption, Taiyeb said he had not taken any money dishonestly. “With Allah as my witness, I have not taken a single taka unlawfully. I am honest by nature and cannot accept money. Mobile phone traders and telecom mafias have spread slander because I did not bow to them,” he alleged.

He expressed confidence about his future, saying he expected to find work soon and return to a normal life.

Taiyeb also said he had returned to Bangladesh from a secure life abroad with his family to serve the country. “Some people tried to humiliate me in every possible way,” he said, adding that the experience had been personally painful.

Describing himself as an ordinary person, he said he lives a simple life and remains committed to honesty and transparency. “Please pray for me,” he added.
