Principal Secy Siraj Mia submits resignation

M Siraj Uddin Mia, Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser, has submitted his resignation from the contractual post, officials at the Ministry of Public Administration said on Monday, February 16.

According to ministry sources, Siraj Uddin tendered his resignation to the Chief Adviser earlier in the day. The application has been forwarded to the Ministry of Public Administration for processing. A formal notification cancelling the remaining tenure of his contractual appointment is expected to be issued upon completion of the required procedures.

The move comes days after the government cancelled the remaining contractual term of Sheikh Abdur Rashid, who had been serving as Cabinet Secretary, following his resignation.

On February 14, Siraj Uddin was given the additional charge of Cabinet Secretary alongside his role as Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification assigning him to the post in addition to his existing responsibilities.

Siraj Uddin, a former senior civil servant, was appointed Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser on October 2, 2024, under a two-year contract scheduled to run until September 2026.
