The government has appointed five new Deputy Attorneys General to represent the state in cases before the Appellate and High Court Divisions of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.

The newly appointed Deputy Attorneys General are Md Abdus Samad, Malay Kumar Roy, Md Shafiqul Islam, Md Isa, and Md Obaidur Rahman (Tarek).

The appointments were made through a gazette notification issued by the Solicitor Wing of the Law and Justice Division under the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs on Monday, February 16.

According to the notification, the President exercised powers under Article 3(1) of the Bangladesh Law Officers Order, 1972, to appoint the five lawyers to the post.

The appointments will remain effective until further orders.

The notification also cancelled a previous order dated August 28, 2024, which had appointed Isa and Obaidur Rahman as Assistant Attorneys General.
