Shehbaz calls Tarique ‘brother,’ seeks stronger bilateral ties

Pakistan Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has extended his felicitations to Tarique Rahman, whom he called ‘brother,’ on being sworn in as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, according to a post on the Government of Pakistan’s Facebook page at 12:53 am on Wednesday.

Shehbaz expressed his eagerness for close and meaningful engagement with his ‘brother’ to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across mutually beneficial areas and deepen the historic ties between the two countries.

Notably, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman was sworn in as Bangladesh’s new prime minister on Tuesday. President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered his oath at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban around 4:15 pm. Later, 25 ministers and 24 state ministers also took their oaths, administered by the president.
