Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid tribute to the martyrs at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar, Dhaka, on Wednesday (February 18) at 11:00 am.
Earlier, security was tightened in three tiers in and around the memorial area ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival, along with members of the cabinet. Members of the police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and the army carried out coordinated security duties. Intelligence surveillance was increased on the highways, while dog squads and bomb disposal units conducted security sweeps.
In addition, the entire memorial area was brought under CCTV surveillance. The memorial premises were temporarily closed to the public.
