Govt set to unveil 180-day roadmap as PM pushes early action

The government will soon present a 180-day roadmap outlining its immediate priorities and action plans, State Minister for Finance and Planning Zonayed Saki said on Wednesday, February 18.

Briefing reporters after the first meeting of the newly formed cabinet at the Bangladesh Secretariat, Saki said the roadmap will be unveiled personally by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

According to him, the Prime Minister has already begun discussions on the plan, and a clear, detailed work programme will soon be placed before the cabinet for formal approval.

Focus on swift implementation

Saki stressed that the government intends to move quickly to meet public expectations.

“The people have entrusted the government with responsibility. The commitments made during the election will begin to be implemented immediately,” he said.

He added that the 180-day roadmap will serve as a structured guide for ministries, setting measurable targets and timelines to ensure early delivery on key pledges.

The announcement comes as the new administration seeks to signal urgency and discipline in its first weeks in office.

Ramadan priorities: prices, supply, law and order

With Ramadan beginning tomorrow, the government has placed immediate emphasis on essential services and public welfare.

Saki said steps are being taken to ensure an uninterrupted supply of essential commodities and to stabilise prices through close market monitoring. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to remain vigilant to maintain law and order, while health services are on alert to safeguard public wellbeing during the fasting month.

All ministries and relevant agencies have been directed to coordinate closely to prevent disruption and respond swiftly to emerging challenges.

Zero tolerance for corruption

The state minister also said the Prime Minister has issued strict instructions to cabinet members regarding integrity and accountability.

“No individual or group will be allowed to tarnish the government’s image. We are committed to building a clean government and will take firm action to uphold this pledge,” Saki said.

The forthcoming 180-day roadmap is expected to outline the administration’s economic, administrative and social priorities, offering the first detailed glimpse of how the government plans to translate its election promises into action.
