Leguna driver beaten to death in Dhaka

A leguna driver was beaten to death allegedly by his rivals over a previous enmity at Shufia Garments area of Jatrabari in the capital on Friday, February 20.

The deceased was identified as Nur Alam Kamrul Rafique, 35, a resident of Shakhipur upazila in Shariatpur district.

Confirming the matter, Jatrabari Police Station sub-inspector (SI) Mizanur Rahman said that Kamrul used to live with his family at Matuail Darbar Sharif Road area in Jatrabari. A group of four to five people attacked him. 

They, at one point, beat him up mercilessly, leaving him dead on the spot.

Being informed, a team of police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for a post-mortem examination, the police official said.

They were trying to arrest the accused involved in the incident, the SI Mizanur said, adding that legal action would be taken against those involved in the incident.
