The government has appointed Md Ali Hossain Fakir as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification on Tuesday confirming his promotion and appointment to the top post of the police force.
Prior to this assignment, Ali Hossain Fakir was serving as Additional Inspector General of Police and chief of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn).
A member of the 15th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Police) cadre, he hails from Bagerhat district.
With his appointment, Ali Hossain Fakir now takes charge of the country’s police force at a time when the government has pledged to strengthen law and order and ensure greater accountability within law enforcement agencies.
