Four police members have been withdrawn over the assault on students and journalists by the law enforcers during an anti-drug drive at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka.
Four cops involved in last night's incident have been withdrawn, and departmental action would be taken against them, Md Masud Alam, deputy commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Ramna Division, said on Tuesday, February 24.
Efforts are underway to identify two to three more, and they will also face action, he said.
Earlier, a police team led by DC Masud conducted an anti-narcotics operation at Suhrawardy Udyan on Monday night, February 23. At that time, a few cops harassed and assaulted students and on-duty journalists.
