Ali Hossain Fakir assumed office as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on Wednesday, taking over responsibilities at Police Headquarters from his predecessor, Baharul Alam.
The government appointed him to the post through a notification issued by the Home Ministry on Tuesday, February 25.
A senior career police officer, Fakir has decades of experience in law enforcement and administration. Prior to his promotion, he served as Additional Inspector General of Police at the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) of the Bangladesh Police.
