Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali has applied for exemption from his duties, citing family reasons. He submitted a letter requesting exemption from his role to the Police Headquarters on Wednesday (February 25).
Sajjat Ali confirmed the matter to Jago News, saying, “I have sent a letter to the Police Headquarters due to personal and family reasons.”
His contract as DMP Commissioner is set to expire on November 21. He was appointed on a contractual basis by the interim government in November 2024.
Multiple sources have indicated that with the formation of the BNP government, extensive reshuffles are expected across the police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and other law enforcement agencies.
Earlier, on February 15, Inspector General of Police Baharul Alam submitted his resignation.
