We never tolerated corruption and never will: Fakhrul

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that his ministry has never supported corruption and will continue to maintain a zero-tolerance stance.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after a coordination meeting with government officials at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall in Thakurgaon on Saturday.

Respondeding to questions regarding media reports on alleged corruption by former advisers, Fakhrul said, “I personally believe that instead of dwelling on past issues, our focus should be on the future—on advancing the country, strengthening democratic institutions, and building a prosperous economy.”

He added, “Anyone involved in corruption will face the full force of the Anti-Corruption Commission. To be clear: we have never given shelter to corruption, and we never will.”

During the meeting, the minister called on all government officials in the district to work collaboratively to ensure effective governance and implement development initiatives that benefit the people.
