Retired Joint Secretary Munshi Alauddin Al Azad has been appointed as the Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs on a contractual basis. The one-year appointment was notified by the Ministry of Public Administration on Sunday, March 1.
According to the notification, under Section 49 of the Government Service Act, 2018, Munshi Alauddin has been appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs on a one-year contractual basis. The appointment comes with the condition that he will not engage in any other profession, business, or employment with any government, semi-government, or private institution or organization during his tenure. Other terms and conditions will be governed by the contract.
Munshi Alauddin previously served as a member of the seven-member independent commission that re-investigated the BDR (Bangladesh Rifles) killings following the formation of the interim government on December 24, 2024.
On February 23, the new BNP-led government removed Religious Affairs Secretary Md. Kamal Uddin and attached him to the Ministry of Public Administration.
