The Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) has transferred 17 unarmed inspectors in a comprehensive reshuffle involving police stations, the Detective Branch (DB), traffic, and investigation units.
An official order, signed by Police Commissioner Israil Howlader, confirmed the matter.
According to the order, the move aims to improve the law and order situation, strengthen crime prevention efforts, and ensure more citizen-friendly policing across the metropolitan area.
As part of the reshuffle, Md Wahiduzzaman has been appointed Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gacha Police Station, Md Iftekhar Hossain has been posted as OC of Konabari Police Station, and Mohammad Arifur Rahman has been assigned as OC of Tongi West Police Station.
In the Detective Branch (North), Md Shahin Khan and Muhammad Moniruzzaman have been posted, while Deb Dulal De has been assigned to DB (South). Khandakar Jalal Uddin Mahmud has been appointed Inspector (Media).
Significant changes have also been made in the investigation wing. Md Abdul Awal Sardar has been posted as Investigation Inspector at Gacha Police Station, Md Zillur Rahman at Tongi East, Tarikul Islam at Kashimpur, and Md Abu Bakar Siddique at Pubail. Imanur Rahman has been appointed Investigation Inspector at Tongi West.
Farid Ahmed has been made Inspector (Crime and Operations), Shah Farid Ahmed Inspector (Estate and Development), Shahidul Islam assigned to Traffic (North), and Mir Md Shah Alam to Traffic (South).
Police sources said special emphasis has been placed on enhancing operational efficiency in the DB and investigation units. The reshuffle is expected to expedite case disposal, strengthen crime control, and improve the quality of public service delivery.
The office order instructs the transferred officials to join their new posts without delay and complete the handover of their previous responsibilities in accordance with due procedure.
