Bangladeshi worker killed in mine explosion in Kuwait

A Bangladeshi national was killed in a mine explosion in the Salmi area of Kuwait on Thursday.

The deceased, Md Jahed Hossain, 30, was the younger son of Kamal Dafadar from Rahmatpur area, Ward No. 9, Sandwip Municipality, Chattogram.

The incident occurred around 11:00 am while he was riding a camel.

His colleague, Lutfor Rahman, who works under the same employer, said Jahed had been working in Kuwait for two years in camel rearing and care. On that day, as usual, he took the camel out for riding when a mine suddenly exploded, killing him instantly at the site.

It is initially believed that the explosion may have been caused by a landmine planted by Iraqi forces during the 1991 invasion of Kuwait.
