Father, daughter among 4 die in Dhaka road crashes

Four people, including a man and his daughter, were killed and two others injured in two separate road accidents in Dhaka's Tejgaon and Science Lab areas on Friday night, March 6.

A truck rammed a motorcycle at the Science Lab intersection around 11:00 pm, leaving one of its riders dead on the spot and another injured.

The injured, a teenage girl, was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the on-duty doctors declared her dead.

The deceased were identified as Saju Ahmed Sumon, 45, and his daughter Sumaiya Ahmed Trisha, 19.

Four individuals suffered serious injuries when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw hit the traffic island in Tejgaon Industrial area around 10:30 pm.

The injured were rushed to DMCH, where the on-duty doctors declared two dead.

The police identified the dead as Md Alim, 40, driver of the CNG-run auto-rickshaw, and Md Harunur Rahman, 32, a resident of the capital's Mohakhali.

The injured, who are now receiving treatment at DMCH, are Harunur's wife and sister.

DMCH police camp in-charge inspector Md Faruque confirmed the matter of four deaths and said the police stations concerned have been informed about the incidents.
