Iran Guards say capable of 6-month intense war

Iran can fight an intense war against the United States and Israel for at least six months, the Revolutionary Guards said in a statement carried by the Fars news agency on Sunday.

“The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran are capable of continuing at least a 6-month intense war at the current pace of operations,” said Guards spokesperson Ali Mohammad Naini, according to Fars.

The Guards, Iran's elite force, also said they had targeted “more than 200” locations related to American and Israeli bases and facilities across the region.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said the war on Iran would continue for “a little” while and described the situation as going “unbelievably good” for the American military.

“We’ve accomplished more in one week than anyone thought possible. We’ve wiped out their navy – 44 ships. We’ve wiped out their air force, every plane,” Trump told reporters on board Air Force One.

“We’ve wiped out most of their missiles. You see, the missiles aren’t coming much anymore. We’ve also hit the manufacturing areas where they make the missiles very hard. Their drone capacity is way down,” he added.

“And we’ve hurt ’em where it hurts, including almost every form of leadership you can have, we’ve wiped out,” he continued.

When asked how long he expected the war to last, Trump said: “Whatever it takes.”

According to Iranian state media, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps has launched a new wave of retaliatory strikes against Israel and US assets in the Middle East.

The IRGC described the latest attack as the “27th wave of Operation True Promise” and said it targeted the headquarters of the US base in Kuwait’s Arifjan with precision-strike missiles.
