The government will hold a press conference on Monday, March 9, to outline its ‘Family Card’ initiative, a flagship programme under the election manifesto.
The briefing will be held at the conference room of the Ministry of Finanace around 11:00 am.
A ministry official said that Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Social Welfare Minister Dr A Z M Zahid Hossain are scheduled to speak here.
The programme will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on March 10 at the T&T ground near the Korail slum in Dhaka, with simultaneous launches at 14 other locations nationwide.
The Family Card aims to streamline social safety programmes, provide direct cash assistance to poor families, and empower women by issuing the card in the name of the female head of household.
