The price of gold in the domestic market has fallen slightly. The cost of the highest-quality 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) has decreased by Tk 3,266, bringing the new price to Tk 264,948 per bhori. The reduction follows a drop in the market price of refined gold and took effect from 10:00 am on Monday, March 9, according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).
The decision to cut prices was made during a meeting of BAJUS’s Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Wednesday. Committee chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin later issued a signed notice confirming the change.
Earlier, on March 4, the price of one bhori of high-quality gold had been reduced by Tk 9,214. Now, just five days later, gold prices have fallen further. Along with 22-carat gold, the price of 21-carat gold has dropped by Tk 3,149 to Tk 252,876 per bhori, 18-carat gold by Tk 2,683 to Tk 216,775, and traditional gold by Tk 2,216 to Tk 176,943 per bhori.
