3 killed as bus hits motorcycle in Ctg

At least three people were killed and 14 others injured when a passenger bus hit a motorcycle in Chattogram's Fatikchhari on Monday afternoon, March 9.

The accident occurred around 5:40 pm at the Felagazi Dighi intersection on the Fatikchhari–Khagrachhari Road.

The deceased were identified as Uttam Uraong, 17, son of Jogesh Uraong, Nayan Uraong, 17, son of Ram Uraong, and Topu Uraong, 17, son of Tapan Uraong. All three were the residents of Hazarikhil village in the upazila.

Eyewitnesses said a speedy bus belonging to Shanti Paribahan hit a motorcycle when it was heading toward Khagrachhari, leaving one of the motorcycle riders dead on the spot after being thrown from the vehicle.

The bus overturned on the roadside, leaving at least 14 passengers injured. 

Local residents and members of the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence assisted in rescue operations and took the injured to the Fatikchhari Upazila Health Complex.

Two more motorcycle riders were declared dead at the health complex, while several critically injured passengers were referred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for further treatment.

Fatikchhari Highway Police officer-in-charge Md Sahab Uddin confirmed the matter.
