President Mohammed Shahabuddin will address the first session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday, March 12, said Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed.
In addition, the President will administer the oath to the new Speaker and Deputy Speaker, who have yet to be elected, Salahuddin said after a meeting of the ruling BNP parliamentary party on Wednesday afternoon, March 11.
The first session is likely to take several historic decisions, he added.
Earlier today, the BNP parliamentary party held a meeting presided over by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The meeting discussed various issues, including the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
